Marvetta Elaine Volker

October 14, 1958 - November 6, 2025

Marvetta Elaine Volker, the daughter of Marvin E. and Eleanor Elaine (Ebert) Leseberg, was born October 14, 1958, in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1977. Marvetta then attended Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, earning her Diploma of Nursing in 1980. She then attended Creighton University, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing 1983. She later moved to Colorado, earning her Master of Science from University of Colorado as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in 1992.

 

In March of 1983, Marvetta was united in marriage to Jeff Holmes, and they became the parents of two children, Zane and Mikaila. They later divorced. On July 23, 2005, Marvetta was united in marriage to Steve Volker in King City, Missouri. They made their home in Tarkio until the present time.

 

Marvetta was employed as a Registered Nurse at George C. Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg, Iowa. Marvetta was then employed by Children’s Mercy, Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner for 30 years. While working in Kansas City, she also worked at other hospitals in Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa as part time. She retired in May of 2024.

 

Marvetta was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port and Saddle and Sirloin Club, Kansas City, Missouri. She loved the outdoors, riding horses, and trail rides. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Marvetta passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at her home in Tarkio, at the age of 67.

 

Besides her parents, Marvetta was preceded in death by sister, Jackie Leseberg; nephew, Colby VanGundy. Survivors include husband, Steve Volker, Tarkio; children, Zane Holmes, Tarkio, and Mikaila (Brogan) Lair, Rock Port; granddaughters, Kinley and Kamryn Lair; numerous other family members.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 11, 2025, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri.

Open visitation begins 12:00 P.M., Monday, November 10, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M., Tuesday, prior to the service.

Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.

Memorials: First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
