Halley D. Hunter

April 29, 1977 - January 28, 2026

Halley Dawn Hunter, the daughter of Norena (Evans) and adoptive father, David Robinson, was born on April 27, 1977, in Gordon, Nebraska. Halley attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1995. Later, she earned her master’s degree in marketing from Peru State College, Peru, Nebraska.

Halley was united in marriage to Jay Hunter in 2012, after welcoming their first son, Rylan, in 2009. Their family grew with the birth of Ethan in 2013. Rylan was always her strong boy, steadfast in caring for his mama, while Ethan was her sweet angel whose radiant grin never went unnoticed by his loving mother.

Halley devoted 15 years of her life to Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg, Iowa, where she was a valued member of the staff. Halley was deeply involved in coaching soccer and found immense joy in watching her boys play baseball. She also enjoyed bowling and took pride in her sons’ exceptional bowling skills. Gardening brought her peace, and she was known for her outstanding culinary skills, always eager to feed not only her boys but all the extra children welcomed into her life.

Halley had a free spirit and was known for her vibrant, wild red hair. She was a loving presence in the lives of all the children around her, always offering a warm and welcoming embrace. Her compassion extended to animals, especially dogs, and she often spoke of one day opening a dog shelter. Halley cherished Sundays spent watching football with family and friends, especially cheering for the Chiefs. She had a unique fondness for pickles, a small delight that brought her joy. Halley passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Bryan West Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 48.

Halley is survived by her husband, Jay; her sons, Rylan and Ethan; and her brother, Brent; her nephews, Jaxon and Kielyn. She is also remembered fondly by all of her other children: Brock, Harper, Zeplin, Briggs, Kit, Quentin, Hunter, Louie, Everett, Landon, Lilly, and Chord. Halley was welcomed by her mother, Norena; and her adopted father, David.
