W. H. Herron, the son of Jesse and Mabel (Sauceman) Herron, was born November 9, 1917, in Watson, Missouri. He attended Shiloh Country School located north of Rock Port. W.H. proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps.
On March 22, 1945, W.H. was united in marriage to Lois Marie Cooper at the Lutheran Church Parsonage, Rock Port, Missouri, by Rev. McConnell. They made their home and farmed in the Rock Port community their entire married life. He loved farming, enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with his family.
W.H. was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port, and the Langdon Road District Board and Nishnabotna Drainage District Board. W. H. passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port at the age of 90 years.
Besides his parents, W.H. is preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, Robert Herron and Donald Dean Herron; one sister, Marietta Watkins, sister-in-law, Dorothy Herron, brothers-in-law, Jack Watkins and Charles Knierim. Survivors include his wife Lois, of the home; one daughter, Peggy Smith and husband, Gary, Mondamin, Iowa; one son, Steve Herron and wife, Carol, Rock Port; four grandsons, Reno Herron and wife, Melanie, Tarkio, Missouri; Rebel Herron and fiance, Jennifer Danley; Reven and Redge Herron; one great grandson, Ryder Cash Herron, all of Rock Port. Additional survivors include three sisters, Elizabeth Wintjen and Jessie Knierim, Rock Port; Betty Kesterson and husband, Bud, Shenandoah, Iowa; sister-in-law, Vera Herron, Kansas City, and many nieces and nephews.
