Maurice Anthony Flanagan, the son of McDonald and Nancy Sue (Choate) Flanagan, was born September 18, 1927 in Fairfax, Missouri. Maurice attended country school in the Fairfax, Missouri area and graduated from high school in Clearmont, Missouri.
On October 8, 1945, Maurice entered the United States Army and served his country overseas at the end of World War II and during the Korean War, receiving his honorable discharge on February 15, 1955.
In 1954, Maurice was united in marriage to Evelyn Blackford. They became the parents of three children. They were later divorced. In August 1964, Maurice was united in marriage to Margaret Rassmuson. They became the parents of one child. They were later divorced. On July 12, 1972, Maurice was united in marriage to Rosalee (Slemp) Ottmann. They made their home in Arizona, New Mexico and in 1994 they moved to Rock Port to retire, where they lived to the present time. Maurice passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Beatrice Community Hospital, Beatrice, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years.
Besides his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by five sisters, Nita Marie Martindale, Juanita Cohen, Lione New, Mabel Flanagan and Betty Lou Sly; three brothers, Floyd Flanagan, Mac Flanagan and James Flanagan.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Rosalee, of their home in Rock Port; two sons, Steven Flanagan, Renton, Washington and Gregg Flanagan and his wife, Desire, Albuquerque; two daughters, Kelly Welles and her husband, James, Albuquerque, and Shawna Osterbuhr, Enumclaw, Washington; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Iona Dott (Flanagan) Lawrence, Rock Port; two brothers, John Flanagan, Kansas City, Missouri and Richard Flanagan, Maryville, Missouri.
