Helen Louise Smith

Helen Louise (Lorenz) Smith, the daughter of Henry Lee and Flossie Edith (King) Lorenz, was born in Tarkio, Missouri on November 17, 1923. She attended a country school east of Tarkio, graduating in 1941 from Tarkio High School.

Helen was united in marriage to Darrell Bartles, they were later divorced. In 1953, Helen was united in marriage to Glenn (Butch) Smith. Glenn preceded her in death in 1978.

For several years, Helen took care of many children in the Rock Port United Methodist Church nursery. Her most enjoyment came from being a homemaker, gardening and taking care of her family.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Glenn. Survivors include her son, Dennis Bartles and his wife, Nancy, Rock Port; daughters, Sharon Gilmore, Falls City, Nebraska, Joyce Bybee and her husband, Leonard, Ralston, Nebraska and Barbara Lee, Kansas City, Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Interment: Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port.
Visitation: 1:00 to 1:50 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2009, Minter Funeral Chapel, prior to the service.
