Edmond Lee Riley, the son of Howard and Gertrude (Hicks) Riley was born February 12, 1934 in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended the Tarkio schools.
On November 2, 1952, Edmond enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country overseas on the USS Ticonderoga and the USS Forrestal aircraft carriers during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge on November 13, 1956.
On September 13, 1958, Edmond was united in marriage to Peggy Lucille Harger at the Methodist Parsonage in Tarkio. They became the parents of three children, Kenneth, Kema and Edmond, Jr. They were later divorced.
Edmond was a carpenter and farmed in the Tarkio area. For ten years prior to retiring, Edmond was employed by the Atchison County Highway Department. He was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 of Tarkio. Edmond passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care at the age of 76 years.
Besides his parents, Edmond was preceded in death by three sisters; Nadine Hunkins, Inace Freeman and Helen Henson, two brothers, Willis Riley and Charles “Bucky†Riley. Survivors include his two sons, Kenneth Riley and wife, Helen, Edmond L. Riley, Jr., and friend Jackie Maher, and daughter, Kema Pinzino and friend, Scott Chaney, all of Tarkio, Missouri; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brothers, Carl Riley and wife, Caroline, Tarkio, and Jimmie Riley and wife Lorraine, Republic, Missouri; sister, Ann Phroper, Little Rock, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.
