Esther Lucille Welch
Esther Lucille Welch, the daughter of William Harmon and Greta Belle (Muntz) Leseberg, was born August 31, 1921 in Langdon, Missouri. Esther attended Cooper Rural School and Rock Port High School.
On February 25, 1943, Esther was united in marriage to Clyde E. Welch in St. Joseph, Missouri. They made their home in the Rock Port area. In 1946, they established the Clyde and Esther Welch Trucking Company which they continued to operate until 1980. Clyde passed away October 17, 2001 and Esther passed away at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri, on September 11, 2011 at the age of 90.
Esther enjoyed cooking, dancing, caring for her home, raising a large garden and tending to her beautiful flowers. Esther and Clyde were most happy when traveling in their homemade RV and attending family gatherings.
Besides her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Welch; brothers, Louis Leseberg and Marvin Leseberg; niece, Jackie VanGundy; and nephew, Kerry Beasing. Survivors include her son, Max Lee Thomas; sisters, Betty Sly, Fairfax, Missouri and Hazel Beasing, Rock Port, Missouri; grandchildren, Gayle Jennings, Michael Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Jamie Thomas and Laura Thomas; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
