Merriel R. Henson
Merriel Roy Henson, the son of Lloyd Ray and Nellie Mae (Dunlap) Henson, was born January 18, 1929, in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended schools in the Tarkio area.
Merriel worked as a “journeyman” carpenter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and with his companion, Edna Beane, or “Peaches” as she was affectionately known by Merriel and all of his family.
Merriel lived in Minnesota and the Kansas City, Missouri, area before moving to Houston, Missouri. For the past six months, Merriel had been living in the Willow Care facility in Willow Springs, Missouri. His family is very grateful that his niece, Lily, was nearby to visit with him. Merriel had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. Merriel passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at Willow Care, Willow Springs, at the age of 85.
Besides his parents, Merriel was preceded in death by sister, Katherine Davis; brother, James Henson; one infant brother; and his companion, Edna Beane. Survivors include siblings, Bob Henson and wife, Geraldine, Brighton, Colorado, Gene Henson, Mohave Valley, Arizona, Mary M. Lowrance, Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
