Thelma Woolsey
Thelma R. Woolsey was born on March 10, 1923, in Tarkio, Missouri, to Irwin and Cora (Walter) Steck. She graduated from Tarkio High School and attended Tarkio College.
In 1946, Thelma was united in marriage to James F. Woolsey and they resided on the Woolsey farm homestead east of Tarkio and moved to town in 1980.
Thelma was a member of the Tarkio United Methodist Church. She was actively involved with the Mule Barn Theatre Guild, the Atchison County Museum and Tarkio Renewal. She was an avid antique collector and often served as an appraiser and estate liquidation manager. James passed away in 2002. Thelma passed away Friday, December 12, 2014, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Tarkio, at the age of 91.
Besides her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by brothers, Merle Steck, Dale Steck, Lee Steck and Blaine Steck; brother-in-law, John Woolsey; and sister, Margaret Ryan. Survivors include sisters-in-law, Mrs. John (Dorthine) Woolsey and Mrs. Blaine (Audrey) Steck; nieces and nephews, William Ryan, Philip Ryan, Alan Ryan, David Steck, Kevin Steck, Amy Steck Schwartz, Annette Steck Bradshaw, Sara Steck Sulzman and J. Rod Woolsey; and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
