Delmas W. Howell
Delmas Wayne Howell, the son of Elmer L. and Grace L. (Resler) Howell was born April 14, 1927, in Phelps City, Missouri. He attended country school in the Phelps City area and graduated from Rock Port High School, in Rock Port, Missouri, in 1947. Delmas entered the United States Coast Guard and proudly served his country during World War II in the south Pacific.
On October 31, 1948, Delmas was united in marriage to Bonnie Deatz at the Rock Port Baptist Church. They became the parents of two sons, David and Gary and made their home in Rock Port.
Delmas was employed at the Atchison County Mail in Rock Port as a printer for 63 years. After retiring, Delmas and Bonnie moved to Maryville, Missouri, to live closer to their family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved following them to their various events. Delmas was a dedicated member of the Rock Port Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and helped in many other capacities for the church. He was a member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port. Bonnie passed away February 18, 2011. Delmas passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville, at the age of 87.
Besides his parents and wife, Bonnie, Delmas was preceded in death by infant sister, Lulu Howell and one half-brother, Sonny Howell. Survivors include sons, David Howell and wife, Kathy, and Gary Howell and wife, Vivian, all of Maryville; grandchildren, Meagan Dwyer and husband, Seann, Parkville, Missouri, Molly Schwery and husband, Adam, Kansas City, Missouri, Abby Dropinski and husband, Jim, Maryville, Adam Howell and wife, Candice, Lincoln, Nebraska, Emily Howell and fiancé, Kyle Deere, Liberty, Missouri, and Libbey Howell, Maryville; great-grandchildren, Kelvin and Kendall Howell and Emmaline Dropinski; brother-in-law, Paul Deatz and wife, Lois; sisters-in-law, Beth Carey and Jane Amthor and husband, Joe; half-siblings, Ron and Kenny Howell and Gloria Ann Chaney; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
