Leonard H. Kempke
Leonard Harry Kempke, the son of Harry John and Ella D. (Rossow) Kempke, was born December 8, 1929, in Dunbar, Nebraska. He attended Dunbar schools. Leonard entered the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1962.
Following the war, Leonard returned to the Midwest. He was employed at Missouri Beef Packers in Phelps City, Missouri, shortly after the opening of the plant. He later worked for Garst Farms in Watson, Missouri, until retirement. Leonard enjoyed visiting at The Wood’s Shed and local truck stops and was an avid reader. Leonard passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri.
