February 6, 1951 - May 28, 2020
David “The King” (Dave) Mutum, passed away amongst family in his home on May 28, 2020, in Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 69.
Dave is survived by his wife, Teresa; children, Mike (Lea) Mutum, Brian Marr, Krystal (Skip) Vaughn, Jenifer (Mike) Roberts, Chad Rose, Eddie Rose and Maggie Ramirez; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by mother and step-father, Wilma and Irving Foster; father, Burl Mutum; sister, Connie Knight and brother, Burl “Bud” Mutum.
Dave was born on February 6, 1951. In 1994, Dave was united in marriage to Teresa (Marr) Rose in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 2004, the couple moved to Fairfax. Dave loved living in the country outside of Fairfax. If someone asked he always said he was born and raised in the area. He loved living on “the hill” and he truly enjoyed mowing his lawn. Dave loved his family and his dogs.
Dave was an accomplished welder by trade and worked in Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska retiring in 2015. Dave also worked for many of the farmers in the area and liked to consider himself a “farmer”. Dave enjoyed going to auctions and collecting “precious treasures”. Remember, “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” His collections of treasures included shelves of vinyl records, Marilyn Monroe memorabilia and many, many antiques and vintage tools. He loved his music and he liked it loud. He enjoyed restoring vintage vehicles and two of his cars went to Paul Revere and the Raiders.
It was Dave’s request to not have a “funeral”. Instead he would like all those who knew and cared about him to celebrate life. Have a party, make it fun and think about a wonderful, crazy, old man that didn’t know a stranger. A man who made friends everywhere he went. A man that will never be forgotten even if you only met him once.
