David A. “D.A.” Sundermann, the son of Albert and Clara (Sickman) Sundermann, was born July 26, 1942, in Westboro, Missouri. He graduated from Westboro High School in 1960 and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, graduating in 1964. D.A. was employed in 1965 by the Atchison Soil and Conservation Service in Rock Port, Missouri, as a “lineman” laying out terraces. In 1969 D.A. was promoted to office manager and soon became the County Executive Director for the newly named Farm Service Agency, retiring in 2002, after 37 years.
On October 2, 1982, D.A. was united in marriage to Carol A. Halliday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westboro. They became the parents of four children; Jason, Ryan, Kaylan and Kevin and made their home in Westboro their entire married life. D.A. passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, in an Omaha, Nebraska, hospital at the age of 71.
D.A. was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed attending cattle sales, riding horses, trading cars and watching Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune.
Besides his parents; D.A. was preceded in death by son, Jason Patrick Sundermann. Survivors include wife, Carol; children, Ryan Sundermann and wife, Lisa, Emerson, Iowa, Kaylan Sundermann, Clarinda, Iowa and Kevin Sundermann and wife, Markie, Tarkio, Missouri; sister, Sue Weddingfeld and husband, Bill, Panora, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
