David L. Fuelling
David L. Fuelling, the son of Herman Lee and Doris Sweet (Weir) Fuelling, was born July 30, 1941. He attended country school near Tarkio, Missouri, through the fifth grade then transferred to Tarkio Schools and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1960. David served his country in the United States Air Force at Vandenburg Air Force Base in Lompoe, California, receiving his honorable discharge in 1963.
On August 4, 1963, David was united in marriage to Judy Ann Cole at the Tarkio Presbyterian Church where Jim Hannah was the best man and Patricia Mary Cole was matron-of-honor. They made their home in Rock Port for a short time. In 1968, they purchased their home in Tarkio, where they presently reside. In 1971, they became the parents of one son, David Michael.
David was employed by MFA, Tarkio, and Missouri Beef Packers, Phelps City, Missouri. David then owned and operated his own trucking business, as an over-the-road truck driver in the greater Midwest area. In the early 1980’s, David opened Fuelling Auto Repair in Tarkio. Tarkio Chamber of Commerce honored him for being a new business in 1981. Later in life, David returned to trucking until he retired in September 2013. He was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio, for 27 years. David passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014, at his home in Tarkio at the age of 73.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Fischer. Survivors include wife, Judy, Tarkio; son, David Michael Fuelling and wife, Tami, Newport, Minnesota; grandchildren, Tyler Lee and Danica Renae Fuelling; one brother, Richard Fuelling and wife, Jan, Dunkerton, Iowa; four nephews; and one niece.
