Loren D. Culver, Jr., the son of Loren D. Sr., and Mureill E. (Scott) Culver, was born in Pickering, Missouri on May 4, 1927. He attended the Nodaway County country schools, graduating from Clearmont High School, Clearmont, Missouri in 1945. Upon graduation, Loren entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946.
On July 5, 1945, Loren was united in marriage to Phyllis I. Hackett in Leavenworth, Kansas. They began farming in the Clearmont and Burlington Junction, Missouri areas and also on the Missouri side of Blanchard. In 1994, Loren and Phyllis moved into Westboro, but continued to have livestock until 1996. In September of 2007, they moved to Cameron, where Loren resided at the Missouri Veteran’s Home. He passed away at the Veteran’s Home on November 15, 2007 at the age of 80 years.
Loren was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa and a member of the Lion’s Club of Westboro, Missouri for 38 years. He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his livestock, fishing and being outdoors. Loren especially loved his family.
Besides his parents, Loren was preceded in death by one grandson, Lee Culver. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of the home, Cameron; one son Larry and his wife Julie, Crete, Nebraska, one daughter Cheryl Bell and her husband Richard, Valley, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Tony Bell, Nicole League, Nicolas Bell, Ross Bell, Tara Culver and Jason Culver; three great-grandchildren, Erica and Derek League and Brock Renter.
