Lonnie Dean Kuhns, the son of Rufus and Nellie (Hall) Kuhns, was born on August 21, 1943, in Auburn, Nebraska. He attended Irish Grove, Rock Port High School, and later Fairfax High School.

Lonnie was united in marriage to Becky Ward on May 22, 1965. They became the parents of two children, Rhonda and Jeffrey. They enjoyed 60 wonderful years together and enjoyed spending time with their four grandsons. He also loved working on his pickup and carpentry work. Lonnie passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home in Rock Port, at the age of 82.

Lonnie was a hard worker, always helping his dad, Rufus, on the family farm in Fairfax, and also worked for the Corp of Engineers on the Missouri River. In the early 1960’s he worked for Jim Krusor, building houses in Rock Port, expanding to the east and west sides of town. They also built what was then called the Rolf Apartments. Lonnie worked for many years for Rolf Supply in Rock Port, pouring concrete and installing grain bins. Many of which are still standing. After Rolf Supply closed, he then started driving a truck for Bar Tran in Rock Port, hauling fuel to many farmers and also to many of the Casey stores in Missouri and surrounding states. After his retirement, Lonnie worked part-time at MFA during harvest season.

Besides his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include wife, Becky Kuhns; children, Rhonda Gayler and Jeff (Jessica) Kuhns; grandsons, Kyle (Aspen) Gayler, Brett (Ashley) Gayler, Justin, and Jordan Kuhns; sister, Cathy; numerous nieces and nephews.
