Martin D. Boomgaarn Sr., the son of Virgil Lorrain and Violet Lucille (Major) Boomgaarn, was born August 26, 1964, in Grand Island, Nebraska. He attended Auburn High School in Auburn, Nebraska, graduating in 1982. Martin then entered the United States Army, serving his country for 16 years.

 

Martin was a professional over the road truck driver. He enjoyed taking his children over the road across the country. Martin was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation, Nebraska City, Nebraska. He enjoyed planting trees, fishing, camping, and working on cars. Martin especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

 

Martin passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 61.

 

Besides his parents, Martin was preceded in death by grandson, Nathan Boomgaarn and siblings, Virgil (Shirley) and Steve (Autumn) Boomgaarn. Survivors include grandchildren, Koralyne Milla-Boomgaarn and Gabriel Milla; children, Martin Jr. (Shariden) Boomgaarn of Shenandoah, Iowa, Amanda (Enrique Milla) Boomgaarn of Tarkio, Missouri; Virgil (Lesli Gregory) Boomgaarn and Hailey (Noah Flowers) Boomgaarn, both of Shenandoah; siblings, Violet (Norbert) Esser, Herman (Ann) Boomgaarn, Sandra (Bettina) Boomgaarn, Kathie (Harold) King, Ron (Savannah) Boomgaarn, Don (Alyssa) Boomgaarn; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial Graveside Service and Inurnment will be held at a later date, Humboldt Cemetery, Humboldt, Nebraska.

There is no scheduled visitation.

Memorials may be directed to Martin’s family.

Cremation Arrangements: Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
