Randy A. Hensel
January 8, 1955 - February 19, 2026
Randy Allen Hensel, the son of Gus and Charlotte (Hayword) Hensel, was born January 8, 1955, in Sycamore, Illinois. He attended Sycamore High School. Randy then attended Mount Vernon Bible College in Ohio, and Asbury College in Kentucky, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and History. He then attended University of Kentucky for two years on an assistantship, teaching elementary logic (critical reasoning), and was awarded a research grant to study business ethics.
Randy was also in ROTC and in 1983 was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He entered the United States Army and served his country in Air Defense Artillery and was in one of the first stinger weapon platoons deployed. He served in Korea and after two assignments received his honorable discharge in 1986 in California.
Randy was then employed in real estate in San Jose, California. He moved his family to Omaha, Nebraska and worked in photofinishing, then started Omaha Spiral Bindery out of his home. Over the years, he moved the business numerous times as it grew and in 2019 retired and closed his company after 27 years, moving to Westboro, Missouri shortly after to enjoy the peace of country living.
Randy was a member of the American Legion. Randy had a great love of the outdoors, spending his time hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping, and enjoying wildlife watching. He was a spiritual person who was strong in his faith, attending various churches throughout his life as an active member and leader, most recently New Beginnings Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Randy met his Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his home in Westboro, at the age of 71.
Besides his parents, Randy was preceded in death by two daughters, Sarah Michelle Hensel and Donna Delene Hensel; two sisters, Patty Hensel and Nancy Pruzik. Survivors include sons, Brian (Emily) Hensel, Papillion, Nebraska and Kevin (Britnee) Hensel, Omaha; five grandchildren, Aubree, Charlie, Baylee, Adie and Nellie; brothers, Bill (Nancy) Hensel, Mankato, Minnesota and Terry (Joan) Hensel, Alpharetta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Chip Pruzik, Colorado Springs; special friend, Peg Connealy, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 23, 2026, New Beginnings Church, Shenandoah, Iowa.
There is no scheduled visitation.
Private Family Interment: Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorials: New Beginnings Church, Shenandoah.
Arrangements: Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri.
