Today, I found out you passed away on September the first of this year. You were in your 90’s, and were at home when you left this world. Your grandson was with you. Your family was with you. You were, and will always be, my favorite doctor. I think I was 19 when I first went to your clinic in Rock Port. You were someone I liked and respected immediately. From head colds to birth control pill prescriptions, you and your lovely wife (who was your nurse) were reassuring presences in my life. When, a few years after graduating college, I was pregnant for the first time, you were the doctor who gave me this great news. You were the doctor who delivered our Kimmy. And I remember you talking to the nurse, talking to my husband, and indirectly talking to me about how strong women are. It was your way of helping me focus on the very real physical work of giving birth. Later, when Kimmy and I were at your clinic for one of her newborn visits, your wife commented on my daughter’s beauty. And you just looked a bit annoyed and said, “Of course! What else would you expect from those two!” You once told me that I was the type of person you liked to talk to, that you could see me sitting on a stool by a fireplace just chatting with you. You defined for me what good doctor means. You were there to usher me through into motherhood. You were there to help me understand that I would need insulin for the last 4 months of my pregnancy with Kim, and to hand me tissues when I cried about this news. You were my best doctor, and your wife was my best nurse. The world lost a good one when you left for heaven. Thank you, Dr. Wallace Carpenter. Thank you, always.

I see many have left a condolence as Dr. Carpenter touched so many lives. He delivered my and all my 4 siblings. I recall so many times we drove to Rock Port for check ups and such. A stalwart physician in a small town for many years. Dedication and caring. Thank you for your many years of care and devotion to your chosen field. Bless the family. Joe Farley

How fortunate the town of Rock Port has been to have had the quality of medical care that Dr. Carpenter provided for 50 plus years! He was an amazing man and Doctor.! I grew up in the 50s when he was a new young Doctor and remember his many house calls as well as the many other ways he served the community. He was a man of many talents and gifts! Condolences to the family and know that I think of each of you with a special fondness from my many baby sitting times with you through the years! Kathy (Fay) Boatman

I loved Dr. Carpenter so much, he was a wonderful man. I remember when I was a kid he would make house calls when Mom or Dad had the flu him and Dad would talk about balers. Dad worked on his bale when it broke down. He helped our family out many times. Many Prayers to Dianne and the family.

Dr Carpenter was such a great help to me for many years when he was Medical Director for the nursing home. When he told me he was retiring I felt like crying.I called him & told him that the employees wanted to have a reception for him.He agreed by said this would be the only one he would participate in.Dianne brought in scrapbooks of babies he had helped into the world & at one time the line of well wishers sound down the hall where he was, around he corner, out the front door and down the sidewalk & out into the parking lot. Thank you for your life, doctors such as yourself don't happen often.Dr Dustin expressed to me that if he could be 1\2 the Dr that his Granpa was he would feel he was a success!! Go rest high on the Mountain Wally

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Carpenter. He made a huge impact on my life. He encouraged me to attend Nursing school back in 1976 when I was working at Community Hospital and he helped me to learn many things in the medical field that I always felt made me a much better nurse. But the other most important thing I will always remember is that he was a dear friend, one of the kindest, most compassionate and unselfish persons I ever had the pleasure to know. I haven’t seen him in many years but the memories I shared with him and his wonderful family will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace dear friend , you were very loved.

Dr. Carpenter was a wonderful man and doctor, his love for his patients was evident. He delivered our son in December 1988, and was very humorous in dealing with my husband and me. He always had a smile, was able to calm an panicking new mom down quickly and was a great man. His sense of humor will always be his shining point with me, as he informed me the sex of our baby, but I warned him, not to tell my husband, he wanted to let the cat out of the bag at every visit, and I had to scold him, he would just grin and laugh. Dr. Carpenter was truly one of a kind and I am so happy that I was a patient of his. May he be blessed for all the good he did on the earth during his lifetime. Godspeed Doc

Wally was a great man. Our community was very lucky to have had him taking care of us. I spent almost as much time on his back porch than I did in his office getting stitched up for something as I suspect many others did. He always knew the answer to what was ailing us. Rest in peace Doc.

In Jamaica, Dr. Carpenter is respected years after his long service to the “poorest of the poor.” He instantly related to his patients and demonstrated the art of medicine even when the science of medicine was not available. Everyone left “feeling better.” For his co-workers, he was generous with his stories, humor and time. He was a great guy who is gone but not forgotten. Blessings to the family who has lost someone so dear.

Dr Carpenter was one of the most amazing men I had ever known. He delivered my girls, and my youngest he delivered on his birthday in 1992, before going home to his birthday party. He had a great bedside manner and was so helpful in more than just medicine. Over the years, with both my mother and my aunt working for Dr Carpenter, I thought of him as not only my doctor but also my friend. I think Dr Carpenter was one of the mast of a dying breed, the "Country" doctor that would be there for you no matter what. He was quick to save my life in 1987, and I will forever be grateful for all he did for me. My heart goes out to all of his family for the loss of this great and wonderful man. I will keep them all in my prayers, as I know Dr Carpenter will be greatly missed by them and the community. God Bless you Dr. Wallace Carpenter....until we meet again!! Angie Flack

Many loving memories of Doctor Carpenter. From telling my mom I wouldn't live to be 4 years old (glad he was wrong that time! lol), to following me home to watch my daughter eat pizza to get a penny unstuck, to singing behind me in the church choir. I was on the receiving end of many hugs from Doc that probably did me more good than anything. Much love and many prayers to you all!

My dad thought a great deal of Dr Wally as he called him. Dad hardly ever went to the doctor even when he needed to but it was Dr. Wally or nobody. To his family and his friends he will be missed by many. He did a lot of good for a lot of people here and in a lot of other place's. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. To Dr. Justin what you did for your grand father couldn't have been easy but God bless you for it. He was proud of all his kids, grand kids, and his great grand kids. God bless and keep you all in this time of sorrow. Cheryl Pierce Martin

Many days have passed since I saw Dr. Carpenter. I heard about all the good he was doing in other areas. What a great man he was not only my doctor but he was a good friend. He brought my two children into this world and also had the privilege of being there with Dr.Burke to delivery my twin granddaughters. He saved our lives several times medically, mentally, and spiritually. Plus he left us all in good hands with Dr.Burke. He was loved and prayed for over the years. He may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts. May the Lord of peace and comfort be with you all. Great shoes to fill.

I had the pleasure of being on a Jamaica mission with Dr. Carpenter, it didn’t take me long to realize I was in the company of a very special human being. His kindness and love was given to his Jamaican patients and friends without reserve. He was so loved by all in Falmouth. I remember during our times after clinic in Jamaica he would give his nurses a foot massage, I thought how many Drs would do that!! He was truly loved and respected , glad I had the opportunity to meet him, carry on Dr. Carpenter where ever u are, surely in Gods light .
