Donald Adam Meyer, the son of Don Meyer and Pamela (VanLeuven) Rightsell was born July 18, 1972, in Fairfax, Missouri. He graduated from Rock Port High School in 1990. Adam then studied diesel truck technology and construction technology at Southwest Community College, Milford, Nebraska, graduating in 1992.
Adam was united in marriage to Tabatha Diane Esser on September 27, 1997, at the First Christian Church, Rock Port. They made their home in Rock Port their entire married life.
In 1992, Adam was employed by Omaha Truck, as a diesel mechanic, and from 1993 to 1996, by Mellage Truck and Tractor, Auburn, Nebraska. In 1996, Adam was employed as a mechanic by the Atchison County Highway Department. In 2004, Adam became the Highway Department County Supervisor, a position he held to the present time. Adam, along with his wife, Tabatha, and brother, Rick formed Meyer Brothers partnership. They raised hogs and cattle, along with farming the Meyer Family Farm. Adam passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 49.
Adam was a member and elder of the First Christian Church and vice-president of the church board. He was president of the Atchison County Rural Water District board and vice-president of MACTO, the Missouri Association of County Transportation Officials. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Adam was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert R. VanLeuven and Bob and Dora Meyer, sister, Lisa Kay Simmons and nephew, Tyler Armknecht. Besides his wife, Tabatha, survivors include his mother and step-father, Pam (Mac) Rightsell, Tarkio, Missouri; father and step-mother, Don (Sharon) Meyer, Rock Port; brother, Rick (Stacie Barbee) Meyer, Rock Port; father and mother-in-law, Leland and Judy Esser, Brock, Nebraska; grandmother, Donna Metzger, Ada, Ohio; sister-in-law, Morie (Mike) VanDerslice, Seward, Nebraska; nephews, Dillan Meyer, Jesse Simmons, Colby and Austin VanDerslice, and Bracton Cook; numerous step siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, First Christian Church, Rock Port.
Private Family Inurnment at a later date, Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
Open visitation begins 9:00 AM, Tuesday, October 5th, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
