Aileen O. Bemberger

1916-2018

Rock Port, Missouri

Aileen Ora (Garst) Bemberger was born on November 13, 1916, in Watson, Missouri. Aileen was one of three children born to Leon L. and Alma (Benedict) Garst. She grew up on the Garst farm west of Watson and was an alumna of Watson High School, graduating in 1934.

Aileen was later united in marriage to Clifton H. Bemberger. They made their home on a farm west of Watson where they became the parents of six boys, the oldest being twins. They later moved to town in Watson and Aileen worked at the Interstate Garden Nursery in Hamburg, Iowa.

In 1971, Aileen took up residence in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and worked as a seamstress at Pendleton’s Woolen Mills up until her retirement. Following retirement, she served at the Nebraska City Manor for several years.

Aileen loved visiting with family and friends. She was a loving mother and a hard worker. She enjoyed music, sewing, working in her yard and garden, planting flowers and caring for her pets. She loved all animals large and small and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels play outside of her kitchen window. Aileen continued to reside in Nebraska City until September of 2016 when she made her residence at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri. Aileen passed away on December 6, 2018, at the age of 102 years and 20 days.

In addition to her parents, Aileen was preceded in death by her brother, Charles S. Garst, sister, Juanita Carder, grandsons, Kevin Bemberger and Ken Bemberger, and daughter-in-law, Angie Bemberger. She is survived by her six sons, Clifton and wife, Bonnie, of Fulton, Missouri, Clifford, of Fulton, Kenneth and wife, Jean, of Rock Port, Benny and wife, Shirley, of Nebraska City, Bradley and wife, Judy, of Watson, and Tom and wife, Gina, of Rock Port; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
