Ray Trauernicht, the son of Vernon F. and Eva P. (Thompson) Trauernicht, was born November 8, 1940, in Maryville, Missouri. He attended Wolfe country school in rural Fairfax, Missouri, and Fairfax High School, graduating in 1958. Ray also attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, majoring in math.
On August 7, 1965, Ray was united in marriage to Linda Leigh Hartman at the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home in the Fairfax and Rock Port, Missouri, communities their entire married life and became the parents of one son, Scott.
Ray was employed as a manager at MFA Exchange and then as a manager at Fairfax Elevator, both in Fairfax. He also worked as a grain auditor for the State of Missouri Department of Agriculture.
Ray was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. He was a 50 year plus member of the Elks Club, Falls City, Nebraska, and Fairfax Masonic Lodge #483, A.F. and A.M. Ray was a 32nd degree Knights Commander Court of Honor mason. He was a private pilot and licensed amateur ham radio operator WD0BBP for over 50 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his son and grandsons. One of Ray’s fondest memories was going to Africa to hunt with his son, Scott, and later with his wife, Linda. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, shooting clay, drinking coffee with friends and taking rides to see how the crops were doing in the area. Ray passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his home in Rock Port, at the age of 76.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by sister, Ann Trauernicht Markham. Survivors include wife, Linda Trauernicht, Rock Port; son, Scott Trauernicht and wife, Cathy, Shawnee, Kansas; grandsons, Benjamin, Adam and Ryan Trauernicht; brother, Lee Trauernicht and wife, Jan, Lampe, Missouri; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Keith and Phyllis Ottmann, Kathy and John Davis, Donna Shineflew and Marilyn Gude.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 29, 2017, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
Interment: English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri.
Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Friday, July 28, Minter Funeral Chapel, where Masonic Services will be held at 6:00 P.M.
Family Visitation: 9:00 A.M. – 9:50 A.M., Saturday, prior to the service, at the church.
