A. Lucile Thompson
1922-2016
Rock Port, Missouri

 

Alice Lucile Thompson, the daughter of Heiko and Minnie (Gronewald) Cooper, was born July 26, 1922, in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended West Bend Country School, south of Rock Port to the eighth grade. She then lived at home and helped raise her siblings.

 

On October 12, 1945, Lucile was united in marriage to Donald Lee (Mick) Thompson in Atchison, Kansas. They became the parents of two daughters, Linda and Sherry and made their home and farmed in the Atchison County, Missouri, area. In 1959, they moved to Rock Port.

 

Lucile was employed by Rock Port School as a cook in the cafeteria for 33 years. In addition to working, Lucile was a true farmer’s wife, helping with the daily farm chores, as well as being a loving mother, raising and caring for her two daughters. Mick passed away in 1985. Lucile was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. Lucile passed away, Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 94.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Lucile was preceded in death by great-grandson, Cameron Owen; one infant brother, Henry Herbert; four sisters, Etta Cooper, Hermie Schmidt, Frieda Clemens and Rena Schmidt. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wimmer (Jack) and Sherry Gubser (Marlin), all of Rock Port; five grandchildren, Kevin Hicks (Crissa), Lora Lea Owen (Randy), Patricia Limpert (Jonathan), Travis Gubser (Mindy), and Lucinda Hicks (Nick); great-grandchildren, Brynn, Austin, Connor, Piper, Shea, Mason and Elsie; one brother, Harry Lee; four sisters, Evelyn Carter, Betty Jane Johnson, Mary Ann Kerns, and Emma Jean Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service:
11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 14, 2016, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
A private family interment will be held at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
