Alice M. Holtz
July 29, 1938 - October 21, 2023
Alice M. Holtz, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Dykast) Nitzsche, was born July 29, 1938, in Beemer, Nebraska. She passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Oak Pointe of Maryville, Maryville, Missouri, at the age of 85.
She attended Beemer High School, graduating in 1955. On September 18, 1955, Alice was united in marriage to Milton E. Holtz at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Beemer. She is now united in heaven with Milton who passed away in January 2019.
Their life’s journey together took them through Nebraska, South Dakota and Kansas and brought them four children: Russell, Milton Dean, Lisa, and Julie. Alice was employed as a secretary where her husband taught at the University of South Dakota/Springfield in Springfield, South Dakota and Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri. They also owned and operated dairy farms and row crop operations in South Dakota and Missouri. After the family moved to Westboro, where she lived until the present time, she also enjoyed working as a waitress, as a nurse’s aide, and for the Post Office in Westboro.
Alice was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her children and grandchildren, and attended every award or sporting event she could. She was, of course, an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, and enjoyed playing the Bavarian card game Schafkopf at family gatherings.
Besides her parents and husband, Milton Holtz, Alice was preceded in death by siblings, Art Nitzsche, Jr. and Jerry Lee Nitzsche. Survivors include children, Russell Holtz and wife, Nancy, Tacoma, Washington, Milton Dean Holtz and wife, Lyndy, Blanchard, Iowa, Lisa Holtz, Rock Port, Missouri, and Julie Livengood and husband, Dana, Burlington Junction, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Norma Doescher, West Point, Nebraska, Merlin “Bud” (Barb) Nitzsche, Beemer, and Judy Beck, Wauseon, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 24, prior to the service. There is no open visitation Monday.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date, Walden Grove Cemetery, Westboro.
