Ardis Ann Garst, the daughter of Wesley and Pearl Susan (Taylor) McNeal, was born June 27, 1933, in Fairfax, Missouri. Ardis graduated Fairfax High School, in 1951 and attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri, for one year.
On November 26, 1960, Ardis was united in marriage to Charlee Miles Garst in Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home in Burke Apartments for a few months. In early 1961, they moved to the Garst family farm in Watson, Missouri, where they made their home for 46 years. They became the parents of two children, Dayan and Jim. In 1997, they moved into Rock Port where they lived to the present time. Ardis enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri, with Charlee and spending time with her girlfriends and grandchildren.
Ardis worked for Hardin Cox at the Farmers Mutual Insurance office, was a founding secretary for Missouri Beef Packers and was active on the election board in Watson. Ardis was a member of the Fairfax Presbyterian Church and attended Watson Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the Rock Port Sorosis and a former member of the Atchison County Health Board. Ardis passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Bryan LGH East Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 83.
In addition to her parents, Ardis was preceded in death by son, Jim Garst and sister, Yvonne Thiesfeld. Survivors include husband, Charlee Garst, Rock Port; daughter, Dayan Garst, St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Tracey Garst, Watson; three granddaughters, Tarah Garst and Laura Adoukonou, both of Omaha, Nebraska, and Scarlett Kish, Watson; five great-grandchildren, Kynzie, Mya, Jayla, Kynnedi and Imari; niece, Jan Pyeatt; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 31, 2016, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Interment: High Creek Cemetery, Watson, Missouri
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, Minter Funeral Chapel.
