Arlene Agnes Erdman, the daughter of William and Delilah (Slemp) Thompson, was born Oct 6, 1919 near Rock Port, Missouri. She was baptized at the South United Methodist Church in Rock Port in 1925 and attended Valley View School South of Rock Port.

 

On June 20, 1936 Arlene was united in marriage to Carl August Erdman at the Lutheran Church in Rock Port by Rev. McConnell. She transferred her membership to St. Peters Lutheran Church, Langdon, Missouri and was confirmed in 1937, where she also taught Sunday school for 20 years. They lived and farmed near Langdon, until 1945 when they moved to a farm near Tarkio, where they farmed for 28 years. Following retirement in 1974 they moved into Rock Port, where they lived to the present time. Arlene passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port at the age of 87 years.

 

Arlene loved water and swimming, especially when she had the opportunity to swim in the ocean. She also enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews as well as gardening and flowers. Arlene was a very kind and gracious woman who always enjoyed doing for others.

 

Arlene was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, the Prayer Group and the Thursday Afternoon Circle.

 

Survivors include her husband Carlie, Rock Port; sisters-in-law, Geri Thompson, Omaha, Nebraska, Lucille Thompson and Lena Schoonover both of Rock Port; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Lloyd, Donald and Wayne (Mandy) Thompson, one sister Madge Huffman.
