Arley F. Patton, the son of Jessie and Rachel (Maness) Patton, was born May 28, 1944 in Rock Port, Missouri. He attended Rock Port schools, Rock Port. On April 3, 1969, Arley entered the United States Army and served his country overseas in the Vietnam War. He received a Bronze Star Medal during his service there and earned his honorable discharge on December 18, 1970.

 

On December 13, 1971, Arley was united in marriage to June A. Fischer in Fort Scott, Kansas. They made their home in Clatonia, Nebraska and became the parents of three children; Jennie, Cristine, and Hank.

 

Arley was an auto mechanic for many years before becoming employed by Farmland Foods in Crete, Nebraska and in his spare time, continued to work as an auto mechanic, retiring in 1996. In the early 2000’s, Arley moved to Shenandoah, Iowa and in 2015 to Clarinda, Iowa where they lived to the present time.

 

Arley was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7224, Shenandoah. He loved to be outside and spent a lot of his time catfishing with good friends and family, deer hunting, and camping. He was always in the garage tinkering around or working on something and was the one to call when you needed advice on how to fix something. Arley was always telling stories about his adventures and those stories will keep him alive in the hearts of his family and friends. He made you feel like family and was always trying to get a smile out of others. His family and friends were very important to him. Arley passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, in Villisca, Iowa, at the age of 77.

 

Besides his parents, Arley was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Kirk, Hattie Mae Chastain, twins, Bessie Patton and Tressie Hart, and Marie Daugherty. Survivors include his loving wife, June Patton, Clarinda; children, Jennie Patton, Grand Island, Nebraska, Cristine Lopez, Corpus Christi, Texas, Hank (Kristy) Patton, Malvern, Iowa, and Rhonda Kealey, Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; siblings, Rosalea (Dennis) McConnell, Auburn, Nebraska, and Elsie Foster, Sidney, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 1, 2021, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 P.M., Saturday, July 31, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.

Memorials: Atchison County Memorial Building Walk of Honor.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
