Arnold Dean Palm, son of Gustav and Augusta (Erdman) Palm, was born April 9, 1927 in Langdon, Missouri and passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, after a short illness.

 

He was raised on the family farm and attended the Benton Country School in the Langdon area in his youth. Arnold was a member of the former St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Langdon, where he was baptized and confirmed and currently was a member of First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. Arnold farmed with his father until he left to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to the farm. Following the 1993 flood, he sold the farm and moved north of Rock Port where he lived until the present time.

 

Arnold liked little children, his chickens, his dog and gardening, as well as visiting with his neighbors and his egg customers.

 

Besides his parents, Arnold is preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude A. Hague, Lou Ella Palm and infant sister, Evelyn Palm, two brothers, Irvin Palm and George Herbert Palm. Survivors include one sister, Mildred Windhorst, Maryville, Missouri; two nieces, Betty (Carl) Herron, Rock Port, Shirley (Lyal) Hicks, Kansas City, Missouri; two nephews, Gary Windhorst, Texas, and Wesley Windhorst, Fairfax, Missouri.

 

Services: 11:00 am,Thursday, November 5, 2009, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
There is no scheduled family visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Rock Port Nutrition Center.
