Arthur Francis (Sonny) Cook, Jr., was born on July 17, 1966, in Maryville, Missouri to Arthur, Sr. and Betty (Bailey) Cook. Sonny attended school in Rock Port, Missouri, where he graduated in the class of 1984.
In August 1987, Sonny became an Armed Security Officer at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. He worked there until the time of his death. Sonny enjoyed his job and made many friends throughout the years at CNS.
On June 15, 1991, Sonny was united in marriage to Cheryl Kaye Catlett. The couple made their home in Rock Port where they were blessed with one daughter, Amber Nicole, on December 6, 1996. Sonny was a wonderful husband and dad. Cheryl, Amber, and Jon were Sonny’s entire world. He often doted on his family and was the happiest when he was with them. He was a true family man and ensured they had everything they needed and wanted. Walking his daughter down the aisle at her wedding last fall was one of his proudest moments.
Often when he wasn’t with family, you could find him catching up with friends at Skeet’s Body Shop or riding around the country in his truck. He also loved to hunt, fish, golf, and travel. Many family vacations were taken to Lake of the Ozarks, Branson, Myrtle Beach, Hawaii, Florida, and more. The memories made on these vacations are cherished by all. Sonny was well-known and liked by all who met him and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and coworkers. Sonny passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 54. Sonny fought hard to stay with his family but ultimately lost his brief battle with cancer.
