Bernice Maxine Lauritsen, the daughter of George W. C. and Fern Marie (Oliver) Hunter, was born March 4, 1937 in Bedford, Iowa. Bernice graduated from Audubon Iowa High School.

On February 19, 1956, Bernice was united in marriage to Bernard (Bernie) Lauritsen at the Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. They became the parents of two daughters, Susan and Pamela. Bernice was a stay at home mom. In 1966 they moved to Rock Port where she was later employed by Casey’s convenient store and Excel beef packing plant. Bernie passed away June 17, 2007. Bernice passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri at the age of 73 yrs.

Bernice was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Port. She worked with the girl scouts and enjoyed crochet, needle work, reading and crossword puzzles, but mainly spending time with her family.

Besides her father and husband, Bernice is preceded in death by an infant son, and one sister Kathy Hunter. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Lauritsen-Morris and her husband Pat, Peru, Nebraska, and Pamela Haer and her husband Ronnie, Craig, Missouri; six grandsons, Nickolaus Haer and his wife, Jessica, Maitland, Missouri, Andrew Haer and his fiance, Ashley, La Plata, Missouri, Timothy Haer, Graham, Missouri, Michael Morris and his wife Andrea, Lincoln, Nebraska, Adam Morris, Omaha, Nebraska and Ben Morris, Lubbock, Texas; one granddaughter, Andrea McCormick and her husband Aaron, Shenandoah, Iowa; four great grandchildren, Isaac Haer, Bailey McCormick, Dayna McCormick, and Andrew Morris; mother, Marie Hunter, Earling, Iowa; two sisters, Martha Higgins, Dow City, Iowa, and Connie King, Newberg, Oregon; mother-in-law, Anna Lauritsen, Griswold, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Beverly Maas, Atlantic, Iowa,, one brother-in-law, Kenneth Lauritsen and his wife Janet, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services:
2:00 PM, Saturday, June 5, 2010, United Methodist Church, Rock Port, Missouri.

Interment: English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
