Bettye Sue (Fuller) Curry, the daughter of Oran Carl and Willie Laura (Fleming) Fuller, was born on April 2, 1924 in Holliday, Texas. She attended school in Paducah Texas, graduating from Paducah High School.

 

On April 21, 1945 she was united in marriage to Russell Denson Curry in Madison, Wisconsin. They made their home in Rock Port, Missouri where Sue worked as a receptionist for Dr. Emmett Settles and Dr. R.L. Curfman in Rock Port and later for Dr. Newton Cleveland in Fairfax, Missouri. Sue then was employed as a bookkeeper for Hippo Melvin Oil Company and later Trails End also in Rock Port. During the 1950’s, Sue played on the Rock Port Ladies Softball Team as the team catcher, with her life long friend, Mary Amthor. Their two families would often enjoy day trips of water skiing together. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rock Port and had enjoyed singing in the Sweet Adelines. Sue passed away on December 28, 2007 at the age of 83 years, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Besides her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Russell (1994), brother, Oran (Pete) Fuller, and infant brother, Olan Fuller. She is survived by one son, Kim and his wife, Linda of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister-in-law Ruth Fuller, Arlington, Texas; sisters-in-law, Darlene Banasik, Chariton, Iowa, and Frances Kerr and husband, Eugene, Warsaw, Missouri; brother-in-law, Harry Yungschlager, Chariton, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Services: Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 10:00 am, United Methodist Church, Rock Port, Missouri.
Interment: High Creek Cemetery, Watson, Missouri following the services.
Family visitation: Tuesday, January 1, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.

Memorials: American Cancer Society or the United Methodist Church, Rock Port.
