Bill “Beef” Alloway
Rock Port, Missouri
1928-2011

 

Bill “Beef” Alloway, the son of Everett Ralph and Edna Mae (Ashworth) Alloway was born May 23, 1928 in Maitland, Missouri. He attended the Crosen Country School in rural Holt County, Missouri and graduated from Mound City High School, Mound City, Missouri, in 1946. Following graduation, Bill was employed with the railroads for a short time before serving overseas in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948 with the World War II Occupation Forces.

 

Bill was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Carder on May 21, 1949 at First Christian Church in Falls City, Nebraska. They resided in the Mound City area where Bill was employed by the Missouri State Highway Department. He worked in Holt County from 1948 to 1961, at which time they moved to Rock Port, Missouri. He continued working with the State Highway Department in Atchison County as barn foreman, retiring in 1990, after 44 years of service.  Bill passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home in Rock Port, at the age of 83.

 

Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and sharing that love with his kids and grandkids. He was a member of the U.B. Shiloh Church in his youth and a member of Waterfowlers Hall Of Fame.

 

Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Alloway, and grandson, David Burke. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Alloway, Rock Port; two daughters, Sherry Gayler and husband, Marlin, and Cathy Herron and husband, Rick, all of Rock Port; son, Bill Alloway and wife, Brook, Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Shawn Herron (Phuoc Le), Jared Gayler, Dusty Herron, Brock (Caitlin)Alloway, Megan (T.J.) Rutledge, Cindi (Justin) Wennstedt, and Blair (Shawn) Usery; great grandchildren, Morgan and Maci Rutledge, Brogan and Brylie Wennstedt, sister-in-law, Margaret Alloway, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Services:
10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011, First Christian Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends 9:00 a.m. – 9:50 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at First Christian Church, prior to the services.
