Carl William Moorman, the son of Guy Venable and Hattie Lee (Anderson) Moorman, was born July 12, 1915 in Holt County, Missouri. He attended Mount Pleasant country school east of Rock Port, then Banner country school west of Rock Port.

On September 29, 1935, Carl was united in marriage to Vera Lorene Reeder at the Rock Port Baptist Parsonage by Rev. Goings. Vera preceded him in death. Carl and Vera lived on the family farm until 1940, when they moved to a farm east of Rock Port. They moved to the Stickerod farm north of Rock Port in 1941; the Opp farm south of Rock Port in 1945; the Ray Richards farm west of Rock Port in 1954; and the Marlott farm in 1958. Carl was also employed with the City of Rock Port, Rolf Fertilizer Company, Burke & Sons Lumber Company, and drove a truck for Walter and Ralph Sweeton, all of Rock Port. This was a job Carl would talk about a great deal in his later years. In 1966, he began his employment with Missouri Beef Packers, Rock Port, where ill health forced him to retire in 1976. For the next twenty five years, he volunteered his services at the Rock Port Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member, and the Rock Port Senior Center. In 1975, Carl married Vera Mae Clement. She also preceded him in death.

After living in the Rock Port area all his life, Carl moved to Springfield, Illinois in 2002 to be close to his family. In July, 2004, he moved to Sunrise Manor Care Center in Virden, Illinois. Carl went to be the Lord December 1, 2009 at Sunrise Manor at the age of 94 years. While Carl was a loyal employee and a hard worker, his greatest accomplishments were that he was a gentleman and a good husband, Father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Besides his parents and wives, Carl is preceded in death by his son, Willard Dean Moorman; one still-born son and one sister, Faye Golden. Survivors include his son, Gilbert Moorman and his wife, Mary Jane, Springfield, Illinois; one brother, Roy Moorman and his wife, Norma, Waynesville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Barbara Hug and her husband, Ron, Omaha, Nebraska, Amy Britton and her husband, Jim, Springfield, Illinois, Chad Moorman and his wife, Jenifer, Springfield, Illinois and Adam Moorman and his wife, Stacey, Valerico, Florida; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
