Carol Catherine (Johnson) Ecker, the daughter of Merrill Alvin and Catherine Ruth (Grimmett) Johnson, was born June 27, 1958 in Maryville, Missouri. She grew up on Circle J Ranch and enjoyed participating in rodeos with her sister, Betty. Carol attended West Nodaway High School, Burlington Junction, Missouri, graduating in 1976.
In 1976, Carol was united in marriage to Danny Ecker at the United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction. They became parents of four children, Jacqueline, Justin, Jonathan, and Jennifer. They later divorced. In 2007, Carol met her companion Elton Siders and have been together for 15 years.
Carol was a homemaker, caring for her family for 23 years. When the children were young, Danny and Carol operated The Elmo Café, Elmo, Missouri. Carol moved to Kansas City, Missouri and was employed for Johnson Controls, Inc., working in customer service until the present time.
Carol was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church, Clearmont, Missouri, Word of Life, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Northland Christian, Kansas City, Missouri. She loved spending time with her family and especially attending all of her grandchildren’s events. Carol enjoyed sewing, quilting, and going to the gym. Carol passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, in Raymond, Minnesota, at the age of 64.
Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by sons, Justin and Jonathan Ecker; sister, Betty Bussard. Survivors include daughters, Jacqueline Marie (T.J.) Shavnore, Blue Springs, Missouri, and Jennifer Michelle (Skyler) McGinness, Elmo; daughters-in-law, Raychel Ecker, Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Heather Ecker, Rosendale, Missouri; grandchildren, Kameron, Quinton and Jackson Shavnore, Jayden and Avery Ecker, Madison and Hayden Ecker, Brody and Braxton McGinness; nephews, David and Mike Bussard; numerous cousins; companion, Elton Siders.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 18, 2022, Tarkio Activity Center, Tarkio, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M., Thursday, prior to the service, Tarkio Activity Center, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Memorials: Carol Ecker Memorial Fund.
