Carolyn A. (Stickerod) Snyder, 84, (formerly of Rock Port, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born May 4, 1922, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Jones Stickerod.

 

On July 10, 1949 she was united in marriage to Versie A. Snyder in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

 

Carolyn was a graduate of Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, the Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri and the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi. She was a dedicated school teacher, retiring from the Houston Public School System, Houston, Mississippi after 36 years.

 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

 

Survivors include her sister, Charlotte Garland and her husband, Velmer, Darlington, Missouri; three nephews, Steven Garland and wife Lynda, and their children, Ruslan, Ivan and Ludmilla, Prince Frederick, Maryland, David Garland and wife Jerri, and son, Justin Garland, Darlington, and Evan Haynes and wife Karyn and their daughter Sophia Haynes, Aurora, Colorado, one niece, Lynne Haynes Tucker, and daughter Lyndsay Tucker, Palo Alto, California.

 

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Versie A. Snyder, and sister Lydia Haynes.
