Carroll G. Fischer
March 9, 1931 - January 19, 2023
Carroll G. Fischer, the son of Flora (Hays) Fischer was born March 9, 1931, in Hamburg, Iowa. He attended Watson country schools, Watson, Missouri.
On June 1, 1949, Carroll was united in marriage to Frances Poe in Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home in the “Fischer Timber” west of Watson until 1953, when they moved to Saxton Road, west of Easton, Missouri. They became the parents of four children, Danny, Jean Ann, John, and Pat. Frances passed away on February 2, 2020.
Carroll was a farm hand for Watson area farmers before being employed by Coy Rightsell, east of St. Joseph, Missouri, cleaning timber off the Platte River. He was then employed by Swift for 25 years, retiring as a sheep wool grader. Carroll then began taking college classes to sell Kansas City Life Insurance and immediately became one of the top salesmen.
During this time, Al Shirley asked Carroll if he would consider filling in as a preacher. He eventually became ordained as a Baptist Pastor. For over 35 years, he faithfully preached at the Watson Baptist Church and Linden Christian Church, Rock Port.
Carroll was a gifted dynamic Bible believing preacher of God’s truth. He loved all people and wanted them to hear God’s message of salvation. Carroll passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, in St. Joseph, at the age of 91.
Besides his parents and wife, Frances Fischer, Carroll was preceded in death by one grandson, Russell Franklin and two great grandchildren, Ethan Russell Owen and Kristen Gatton. Survivors include children, Danny (Wenona) Fischer, Watson, Jeanie Ann Fischer, Easton, John (Donna) Fischer, Easton, Pat Franklin, Princeton, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; siblings, Randy and Jim Mills, both of Bakersfield, California.
Graveside Service and Interment: 2:30 P.M., Sunday, January 22, 2023, High Creek Cemetery, Watson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Sunday, prior to the service, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
