Cathy Claire Carter, the daughter of Ivan and Claire (Brittain) Carter, was born January 8, 1949, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1967. Cathy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity Lutheran University in San Antonio, Texas, where she also took numerous graduate courses.

Cathy was employed as a bookkeeper for her father, Ivan, at Curfman Hardware in Tarkio and was later employed in accounting at Tarkio Public Schools. Cathy touched many young lives with her caring words of encouragement while working at Tarkio Schools. She retired in 2013.

Cathy was a 50 year member of the P.E.O. Chapter FF of Tarkio, a member of the Tarkio Christian Women’s Fellowship, supported various other groups and organizations, and had just celebrated her 50 year high school reunion. Anyone who knew Cathy knows of the passion she had for reading and her love for music. Cathy passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at her home in Tarkio, at the age of 68.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Dean Carter. Survivors include her mother, Claire Carter Jones, Tarkio; sister, Mary Beth Alsup and husband, Richard, Maryville, Missouri; niece, Leigh Beth Alsup, Maryville, and her children, Jessi, Matthew and Dawson; nephew, Damon Alsup and wife, Kate, Blue Springs, Missouri, and their children, Gianna and Barrett.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 15, 2017, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Thursday, September 14, 2017, Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:45 A.M. – 10:30 A.M., Friday, prior to the service.
