Charles Junior Gilmore, the son of Harry Eugene and Dorothy Marie (Groff) Gilmore, was born on November 22, 1948, in Cody, Wyoming. In his youth, he attended grade school in Cody, and high school in Alaska.

 

Charles was united in marriage to Helen Tran in 1969. They became the parents of one daughter, Carol. They were later divorced. In 1968, Charles entered the United States Army, and served his country during the Vietnam War until 1970. He spent many years working as a mechanic on the Alaskan Pipe Line. Charles moved to Rock Port, where he lived until the present time. Charles passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 62 years.

 

Charles was preceded in death by his father; sister, Sandra Gilmore; and an infant brother. He is survived by his son, Jerry Shively; daughters, Terry Shively and Carol Shively; grandson, Caleb Hamilton, all of Anchorage, Alaska; his mother, Dorothy Gilmore, of Rock Port; brother, Garland Gilmore, of Anchorage; sisters, JoAnne Slater and her husband, Bob, of Cody, Wyoming, Janice Gilmore and Kenneth Long, of Bainbridge, Georgia, Nancy Slater and Bruce Slater, of Anchorage, Linda Cooper and Joe Vanatta, of Cocolalla, Idaho, Darlene Barnhart and her husband, Byron, of Rock Port; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, at Grace Community Church, Rock Port, Missouri.
Interment: Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port.
Memorials: Charles Gilmore Memorial Fund.
Visitation: 7:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Military rites under the auspices of Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port
Services: Minter Funeral Chapel.
