Charles Simpson Herron, Jr.
January 26, 1927 - March 7, 2008
Charles Simpson Herron, Jr., the son of Charles Simpson, Sr. and Juanita Fern (Million) Herron, was born January 26, 1927 in Rock Port, Missouri. Charlie attended the North Polk Country School, north of Rock Port and graduated from Rock Port High School.
In 1943 Charlie was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Thompson at the Atchison County Courthouse. They made their home on the Herron family farm, north of Rock Port where they raised their seven children. They were later divorced. In 1980 Charlie met Jean Seiber in Hamburg, Iowa. They would become 26 year companions until her death in 2006. In the same year, he moved to Tarkio, where he lived to the present time. Charlie passed away Friday, March 7, 2008 at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 81 years.
Farming was Charlie’s life, and as a young man, he raised, cows, hogs, chickens, and horses, and was a member of 4-H. Following the sale of the farm, Charlie was employed by Shirley Ag in Percival, Iowa as a custom applicator. He retired in 1992. After retiring, Charlie enjoyed taking long rides to simply look at the crops and the countryside.
Besides his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Teresa Morrison, brother, Dean Herron, and sisters Leona May Herron, Doris McGinnis, infant twin brother and sister and another infant brother. Survivors include daughters; Sandra Garrett and her husband Jim, Omaha, Nebraska, Sharon Olsen, Kansas City, Kansas, Judy Meek and Rocky Murry, Tarkio, Janet Herron, Denver, Colorado, Kelly Herron, Nebraska, and two sons; Larry Herron, Mineral Wells, Texas, David Herron, Burleson, Texas; stepchildren, Kathy Clark and her husband Mike, Hamburg, Carolyn Seiber, Mexico, and Jack Seiber, Shenandoah; sister, Lois Bennington, Rock Port, sister-in-law, Phyllis Herron, Rock Port, and brother-in-law, Douglas McGinnis, Shenandoah, Iowa, 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 11, 2008, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port
Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port

The family will receive friends 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Monday evening, March 10, 2008 at Minter Funeral Chapel.
