Clint Ross Levings
1919-2013
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Clint Ross Levings, the son of Herbert Joseph and Ora Roselle (Mefford) Levings, was born November 25, 1919 in Paris, Missouri. Clint graduated from the Public Schools of Monroe County in Paris Missouri in 1937. Clint then attended Missouri University, Columbia, Missouri studying for a degree in agriculture.

 

On November 30, 1941 Clint was united in marriage to Elnor Fern Dooley in Hannibal, Missouri.

 

On September 21, 1942, Clint entered the United States Army Air Force and served his country during World War II as a Link Training Instructor, teaching pilots to fly using only instruments. Clint received his honorable discharge on January 11, 1946 and returned to Missouri University to complete his Agricultural Degree in 1947.

 

In 1947 they moved to Rock Port where Clint was employed as a balanced farming agent with the University of Missouri Extension Office. That same year Clint started Levings Construction. In 1973, his son Roger joined him and operated the business together until Clint retired in 2008. While working as a contractor, he was the recipient of an award for “Missouri Conservation Contractor of the Year” in 1965. The award stated Clint was a pioneer of conservation work in its infancy, through his conscientious efforts, quality work and honesty, conservation has become a reliable occupation for many men.

 

Elnor passed away in 2009. Clint passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio at the age of 93.

 

Clint was a member of the United Methodist Church, Tarkio and a Charter Member of the Land Improvement Contractor Association. Clint and Elnor were avid supporters of the community. One of Clint’s favorite activities was the Tarkio Fly-In. For many years, he flew his plane, giving rides to all who asked. He loved to follow his grandchildren’s activities, and delighted in being called “Gramps” by his great-granddaughters.

 

Besides his parents and wife Elnor, Clint was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Levings and his wife Rebecca. Survivors include his son, Roger L. Levings and his wife Kenna, Tarkio; grandchildren, Eric Levings and his wife Mandy, Kansas City, Missouri and Kristy Levings, Lincoln, Nebraska; great granddaughters, Ally Katherine and Ava Lynn Levings, and numerous friends.

10:30 A.M., Monday, June 3, 2013, United Methodist Church, Tarkio, Missouri.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio
The family will receive friends 5:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M., Sunday, June 2, 2013, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Memorials: United Methodist Church, Tarkio or the M. David Palmeiro Foundation.
Military rites under the Auspices of Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio.
