Connie S. Horning, the daughter of Amos Maurice and Daisey (Cottrell) Foster, was born April 15, 1947, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She attended Shenandoah schools.
In November of 1971, Connie was united in marriage to Richard Horning. They became the parents of two daughters, Amy and Stephanie. Richard passed away in 2015.
For many years, Connie was employed as a cook at Trails End and Hen House in Rock Port, Missouri. In 1987, after Amy’s graduation, they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. In March 2018, Connie returned to Rock Port to be closer to Amy and her family.
Connie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Port. She loved caring for children, especially her nieces and nephews, and was a foster parent for many years. Connie passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 72.
In addition to her parents and husband, Richard, Connie was preceded in death by sister, Jean Davison. Survivors include two daughters, Amy Thomas, Rock Port, and Stephanie Little, Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Brentlee (Darian) Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Ricci Young, Marcci (Alex) Crouse, Randi Little, Mori Little and A.J. Little; five great-grandchildren, Braylon and Elliott Thomas, Ryker Rowen, and Reighlyn Crouse; foster grandchildren, Megan Reynolds and Brittney Hein; sisters, Pat White and Rosalie McCarty; brother, Marion Glascow; stepsister, Connie Widger; stepbrothers, Randy and Dwayne Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 22, 2019, Riverton Cemetery, Riverton, Iowa
There is no visitation.
