Doris Evelyn Mackey, the daughter of Harry William and Mamie (DeSmet) Thompson was born on May 10, 1925 in Fort Hale, South Dakota. Evelyn attended school in Fort Hale.
On October 15, 1947, Evelyn was united in marriage to William D. Mackey in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home in the Atchison County area and became the parents of three children; Linda, Tom, and Billy.
Evelyn was a homemaker. She enjoyed making homemade bread and cream pies. She was a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Lower Brule, South Dakota. William passed away in 2001. Evelyn passed away Friday, February 7, 2020, at Oregon Care Center, Oregon, Missouri.
Besides her parents and husband, William, Evelyn was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Sandra Mackey; seven brothers and three sisters. Survivors include, children, Linda (Donald) Butcher, St. Joseph, Missouri, Tom Mackey, Fairfax, Missouri, and Billy (Beth) Mackey, Fairfax; brother, Elgin Thompson, Pierre, South Dakota; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside Service and Inurnment: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 27, 2020, Hamburg Cemetery, Hamburg, Iowa.
There is no visitation.
Memorials: In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Oregon Care Center Activity Fund.
