Dan Nelson, the son of Ted and Esther (Jensen) Nelson, was born June 7, 1957, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended David Starr Jordan High School, Long Beach, California, graduating in 1975.

In the mid 1990’s Dan met his lifelong partner, Janet Enderle, she survives in Minnesota. Dan worked as a painter in construction.

Dan loved fishing, watching scary and western movies, and talking to friends and family on the phone. He enjoyed animals, especially snakes. He even owned a 16-foot Boa Constrictor. Most of all, Dan loved his children and grandchildren. Dan passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Tiffany Heights Care Center, Mound City, Missouri, at the age of 67. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Besides his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, David Nelson. Survivors include lifelong partner, Janet Enderle, Princeton, Minnesota; children, Cashie (Jeremy) Proctor, St. Joseph, Missouri, Shon (Chelsey) Nelson, Missouri, Danny (Nicolette) Nelson, Craig, Missouri, Josh Smith, Colorado, Matthew Palmerton, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Spencer (Karley) Smith, Tarkio, Missouri; grandchildren, Skylar, Caden, Carsen, Kaleigh, Raylan, Isaiah, Titus, Caleb, Ryker, Niya, Harmony, and Gavin; siblings, Cyndy (Bill) Cook, Oregon, Janet (Ron) Cassayre, California, Sue Nelson, and Carol Cook, both of Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 1 P.M., Saturday, August 3, 2024, ROC Fellowship, 2606 Sycamore Court, St. Joseph, Missouri 64503.

There is no visitation.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri for final expenses.
