Des Moines, Iowa

 

Darlene Wallace McMahon, the daughter of Glen Wayne and Betty Mae (Winchel) Wallace, was born July 11, 1950, in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1968.

 

On October 13, 1972, Darlene was united in marriage to Dennis Ray McMahon, Sr. in Rock Port. They made their home in Des Moines, Iowa. Darlene was a loving mother to Lil-Larry, Betty Deann, Misty, Lori and Dennis, Jr.

 

Darlene stayed at home, caring and raising her children until they were grown. She was a hard worker who began employment delivering a paper route with her children before advancing to be the distribution manager of the “The Shopper News” in Des Moines. Darlene was also employed as a lawn care specialist at Wal-Mart, receiving Employee of the Month twice. Darlene retired in 2012. She was president of her own kitchen club, “where the coffee was always hot and the door was always open.” Darlene was a proud member of the Wallace family! Darlene passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014, at her home in Des Moines, at the age of 64.

 

Darlene was preceded in death by mother, Betty (Winchel) Kirk; father, Glen Wallace; step-mother, Ruth Wallace; daughter, Betty Deann McMahon; nephews, Andy Wallace, Jr. and James Wallace; and niece, Betty Mae Wallace. Survivors include four children, Larry (Tony) Wallace, Misty (Ed) Hamel, Lori (Todd) Albrecht and Dennis McMahon, Jr; ten grandchildren, Nathan, Tyler, Cheyenne, Damien, Calvin, Dakota, Devon, Mason, Braeden and Delaney; brothers, Larry Mack (Janie) Harbin, Maryville, Missouri, and Andy (Diana) Wallace, Fairfax, Missouri; sister, Lois Jean (Sonny) Noland, Macon, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 22, 2014, First Baptist Church, Tarkio, Missouri.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.
