Dear St. John's friends and extended family, I do hope to make it up for the memorial service, Lord willing and the creek don't rise. In any case, Dave is now in peace with Neva, Harry, and oh, so many others. What a wonderful choir they must have! Love to all. Dolores, aka: Whitey

I remeber Dave as a great co-worker and friend when we worked together at Norman's IGA. My husband, Wes, and I would visit with him when we got gas and lottery tickets at Casey's. He will be greatly missed but know he is in a better place and is at peace.

I always felt a "kinship" with Dave, sharing the Des Moines background, and later Rose Glen connection. Dave always brightened one's day with his booming hello's. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Dave for many years when he was the elementary music teacher at Hamburg. One of my favorite memories is the Halloween that he dressed as a duck and our kindergarten teacher was a hunter. They put on quite a funny scene. Keith L. Tunnell I'm sure he will be remembered by his former students, his friends, and family as I remember him a gentle, kind, and caring person.

Dave was such a great friend to my father, Dale Kemper. He also gave piano lessons to my daughters when they were younger. I know he will be directing and singing in an awesome choir. What a special, kind and caring man he was. He so gave of himself to others and the Lord. Bless you Dave, you are now at peace.

What great memories we all have of our elementry band years with Mr. Jessen. The last week, we've been sharing memories on line. Before every class, he always sang "whose name is" and personalized it to each of us. My middle name being June, it was always "whose name is kate kathleen june july august"! That has always kind of stuck with me. He was kind man, a good teacher and he left us with great memories. God Bless. Kate

It is with such fond memories we think of Dave. Dave and I began teaching at Hamburg the same year. He was also our daughters' bus driver...what a great guy. Whenever we saw Dave, he would ask about the girls! Loved his booming hello and happy attitude!

I am deeply saddened by Dave's passing. I will miss his deep voice in the choir. He was very passionate about his choir and always selected beautiful music. The angel choir is rejoicing.

I was so very sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Jessen was my teacher through out elementary and high school. He made quite the impact on my life. I remember little songs we sang in his music class and I now sing them in my pre-k class. I remember him being very happy and would never admit that he wasn't feeling well. I too am a member of St John's and it just won't seem right anymore seeing him direct the choir or hearing his smooth bass voice. My deepest sympathies.
