David F. Halliday
1923 – 2015
Tarkio, Missouri

 

David F. Halliday, the son of Robert Earl and Elise (Nolte) Halliday, was born July 4, 1923, on the home place outside of Tarkio, Missouri. He attended and graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri.

 

On January 4, 1948, David was united in marriage to Bernice Rose Christensen in Onawa, Iowa. They made their home on the Halliday family farm their entire married life and became the parents of four daughters. Bernice passed away June 11, 2007.

 

David farmed in the Farmer’s City area, harvesting corn, soybeans and hay. He also produced hogs for a number of years and cared for a variety of farm animals. David was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri, and was a former church councilman. He enjoyed reading farm magazines and working on machinery to keep the farm running. David passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 92.

 

Besides his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Humphrey; one grandson, Jason Sundermann; brother, Richard Halliday; and two sons-in-law, Jerry Humphrey and D.A. Sundermann. Survivors include daughters, Beverly Halliday, Tarkio, Sandra Kander and husband, Doug, Bennington, Nebraska, and Carol Sundermann, Westboro; daughter-in-law, Nancy Humphrey, Omaha; six grandchildren, Michelle Howe and husband, Dennis, Curtis Humphrey and wife, Adrian, Ryan Sundermann and wife, Lisa, Kaylan Sundermann, Kevin Sundermann and wife, Markie, and Rebecca Kander; and five great-grandchildren, Noah, Caleb and Kaylee Howe, Keaton Humphrey and Sage Sundermann.

 

Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2015, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri.
Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Westboro.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 22, 2015, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
