David Lee Stastny, the son of Frank and Loetta May (Stanton) Stastny and Ross and Myrtle Janes, was born October 28, 1951, in Hamburg, Iowa. He grew up in the Watson, Missouri area and graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, in 1969. David attended the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education.

David was employed by the USA Today newspaper for 25 years serving as the Senior District Sales Manager and Technical Support System. He was a member of the Super Smokers World Championship Competitive Barbecue Team and an avid golfer. David was a dedicated sports fan who enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri “Mizzou” Tigers. He always took pride in being a Rock Port Bluejay and a Watson Eagle. David passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at his home in St. Ann, Missouri, at the age of 62.

Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by sister, Mary Amthor; and brother, Elza Janes. Survivors include niece, Vicki Kline and husband, John, Agency, Missouri; and one great-nephew.

A Private Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held at High Creek Cemetery, Watson, Missouri.
There is no visitation.
