1924-2006
Dean V. Tiemann, son of Edward and Olga (Rolf) Tiemann, was born on April 8, 1924 in Westboro, Missouri. He passed away on December 17, 2006 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 82 years. Dean attended Westboro schools and graduated from Westboro High School in 1942. From there, he went on to attend and graduate from Kansas State University in 1946. Subsequently, he returned home to farm with his family.
On June 6, 1948 Dean was united in marriage to Loreta Marie Stricklin at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Westboro by Pastor Nolte. They made their home in Westboro where Dean continued to farm, manage a grain elevator, and prepare income taxes. In 1965 they moved to Bruning, Nebraska where they co-owned and operated a cattle feeding operation. In 1967 they moved to Lincoln, where Dean became Account Manager and Comptroller for Lincoln Steel Corp. Beginning in 1977, Dean worked in administration for the Tabatha Home in Lincoln. In the 1980’s, Dean became director of Gramercy Hill Retirement Center in Lincoln. Being a licensed nursing home administrator, in his retirement Dean served as a consultant for retirement homes and as a trainer for future nursing home administrators.
Dean was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Westboro. He was the first president of the church council of the First Lutheran Evangelical Church of Lincoln. Dean also served on the coalition for Older Adult Health Promotion and Lincoln End of Life coalition.
Dean is survived by his loving wife Loreta; one son Duane Tiemann and wife Irene, Ossining, NY; two daughters, Janice Mitchell and husband John, Vienna, VA and Anita Jeck and husband Greg, Omaha, NE; six grandchildren Patrick, Kevin and Emily Mitchell; Dustin, Erika and Derek Jeck; one great granddaughter Isabella Jeck and one uncle Erwin Rolf, Shenandoah, IA.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Olga (Rolf) Tiemann.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, MO, with burial at St. John’s Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday, December 20 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home: 3600 “O” St., Lincoln, NE 68510. Memorials may be directed to the People”s City Mission: 110 Q.
