Dena Mae Siddens, the daughter of Jean Calvin and Mary N. (Collins) Brown, was born September 7, 1948 in Hamburg, Iowa. She attended Sunny Slope Country School northwest of Rock Port and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1966.

On January 11, 1968, she was united in marriage to William Curtis Siddens at the United Methodist Church in Hamburg, Iowa. To this union one son was born, Curtis Shayne. Dena passed away on March 2, 2007 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 58 years.

Dena enjoyed cooking for Curt and her many friends. She enjoyed going to Hoot Owl Bend to visit and camp. Dena loved to fish and be out on the Mighty Muddy MO, even though she was scared of being in the water. She made her home in numerous places throughout her life, but was currently residing in her childhood home northwest of Rock Port.

Curt and Dena met in the third grade and started dating when they were 16. Her family was her life. Sam, her daughter-in-law introduced her to reading, and she seemed to always have her nose in a book. She also enjoyed watching “The Food Network”, especially Paula Deen. She was an integral part of the “Operation Jason” fund-raiser and had been involved every year for 14 years.

Survivors include her husband, William Curtis; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis Shayne and Samantha Siddens, all of Rock Port; one sister Carolyn Price and her husband Marvin, Lincoln, Nebraska; her father Jean Brown, Wilbur, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and her many, many friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother Mary N. Brown, in-laws William Harvey and Ina Mae Siddens, and infant brother, Carl Brown.
