Derald W. McEnaney, the son of Cyril and Cecelia (Broxterman) McEnaney, was born November 29, 1934, in Falls City, Nebraska. He attended country school east of Tarkio, and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1953.
Derald proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army from December 9, 1954, to December 8, 1956.
On February 20, 1960, Derald was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Kelley, and they became the parents of two sons, Scott and Rodney. Sharon passed away in 1983. Derald passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2011 at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 76.
Derald was a lifetime farmer. He enjoyed caring for his cows and running the combine, harvesting the straight rows planted by his twin brother and partner Gerald. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandkids and attending their activities. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tarkio, and the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio.
Besides his parents and wife, Sharon, Derald was preceded in death by three infant daughters, Naomi, Mary and Sherry McEnaney, sister, Delores Miller and brother, Gerald McEnaney. Survivors include two sons, Scott McEnaney, Fairfax, Missouri and Rodney McEnaney and his wife, Kristi, Tarkio; grandchildren Seth McEnaney and his wife Katie, Rock Port, Hanna McEnaney, Tarkio, and Michelle, Abigail and Jacob McEnaney, Tarkio; great-grandchildren, Jayme, Camdon, and Brenna McEnaney; brothers, Richard McEnaney and his friend, Barbara Pierson, Kansas City, Missouri, Arthur McEnaney and his friend, Sheila Dougan, St. Joseph, Delbert McEnaney and his wife, Carol, Shenandoah, Iowa, Don McEnaney and his wife, Carolyn, Tarkio, and Leon McEnaney and his wife, Kay, Shenandoah; sisters, Marcie Selkirk and her husband, Pete, Tonawanda, New York, and Anita Foster and her husband, Don, Palmyra, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews; companion, Cyndy White, Tarkio, and her family, Melanie Herron and her husband Reno; grandchildren, Sean, Blair and Presley.
Mass of the Christian Burial: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 5, 2011, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
